England's Alex Fitzpatrick captured a one-shot lead at the PGA Truist Championship on Saturday, delivering an impressive seven-under-par round of 64.
Fitzpatrick's performance featured eight birdies and a lone bogey, bringing his total to 14-under at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He now leads fellow rookie Kristoffer Reitan from Norway, who also shot a 64.
Just two weeks prior, Fitzpatrick secured his PGA Tour card by winning the Zurich Classic alongside his brother, Matt. He followed that with a top-10 finish at the Cadillac Championship in Florida.
The 27-year-old expressed his excitement about potentially winning his first solo PGA title in only his third tournament.
"It will be super cool, I get goosebumps kind of thinking about it," Fitzpatrick said.
He started strong with five birdies on the front nine, taking a two-shot lead at the turn.
Fitzpatrick maintained his momentum, adding a birdie on the 12th hole but narrowly missed an 11-foot putt on the 14th.
After a bogey on the 16th, he quickly rebounded with another birdie on the 17th.
However, Fitzpatrick faces stiff competition in the final round, particularly from Cameron Young, who finished with a remarkable eight-under 63.
Young's round included seven birdies and an eagle, placing him at 12-under, just two shots behind Fitzpatrick.
"I'm playing great," Young stated. "There is not a ton going on in my head, which is I think a very good thing."
As Sunday approaches, Fitzpatrick will need to fend off a host of contenders eager to claim the championship.
