Lapu-Lapu City will implement two convoy lockdowns tonight to ensure security for the 48th Asean Leaders’ Summit.
The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) announced that the first lockdown will occur from 6:45 PM to 7:30 PM, with the second from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
These lockdowns will affect routes from Mactan-Cebu International Airport to Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa.
Authorities will temporarily close roads and impose movement restrictions to facilitate the arrival of various official delegations.
Public Advisory for Motorists
Motorists are urged to prepare for traffic delays in Mactan, where security measures have heightened in advance of the summit.
PRO-7 has been conducting simulation runs along key routes in Lapu-Lapu City to optimize traffic flow during the event.
The lockdown is a measure to ensure that it will take a shorter time for the convoy package to pass.
Police Colonel Kimberly Molitas
Colonel Molitas emphasized that each convoy is arranged based on security needs, collaborating with the security teams of visiting leaders.
She assured the public that actual lockdowns would be brief, lasting about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on security requirements.
As the Asean summit approaches, police are requesting the public's cooperation to ensure a safe and orderly event.
