Tingog party-list Representative Jude Acidre has expressed concerns regarding the Senate's decision to resume its investigation into flood control projects on June 4.
He voiced these concerns during a news forum in Quezon City, suggesting that the investigation could distract the public from Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial.

If they can no longer prevent the impeachment trial from proceeding, they may be thinking that the next best thing to do is to create distractions.

Acidre's remarks followed Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano's announcement about the continuation of the Senate's investigation into alleged corruption and irregularities in flood control projects.
Acidre pointed out that the issues surrounding these projects have already been investigated in prior congressional hearings and are currently under review by the Office of the Ombudsman.
While he stated that accountability is necessary, Acidre believes the Senate should allow the Ombudsman to manage the accountability process.
He underscored that the Senate's focus on the flood control probe might split attention during a critical time for the impeachment trial.
