The impeachment court in the Philippines is working to accelerate the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, according to Senator Panfilo Lacson. He stressed the importance of a speedy yet fair legal process for all parties involved.
Lacson Proposes Efficient Strategies
I think VP Sara is also entitled, just like any respondent in an ordinary court hearing, to a speedy trial. So we have to devise ways to speed up the proceedings.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson
In a recent radio interview, Lacson outlined his suggestions to prevent unnecessary delays. He proposed that all witnesses scheduled to testify remain on-site at the Senate during the trial to ensure seamless transitions between testimonies.
Lacson's recommendation aims to minimize adjournments caused by unavailable witnesses, which he believes would lead to wasted trial days. He mentioned that continuing at the current pace could extend the trial into the Christmas season.
