Senator Joseph Victor 'JV' Ejercito has taken a significant step to bolster maritime security by co-sponsoring Senate Bill No. 2116, the Revised Philippine Coast Guard Law. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities and operations of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) amid increasing challenges in national waters.
Ejercito, a long-time supporter of the Coast Guard, highlighted that the proposed legislation seeks not only to strengthen the organization but also to professionalize its personnel. He pointed out that as maritime threats evolve, so must the operational readiness of the Coast Guard.

The senator emphasized that the PCG plays a crucial role in safeguarding the Philippines' maritime territory and protecting the livelihood of Filipino fishermen and civilians at sea. He reiterated the importance of investing in the Coast Guard as a vital component of national security.
During previous budget discussions, Ejercito advocated for increasing the daily subsistence allowance for Coast Guard personnel, firefighters, and police officers from ₱150 to ₱350. He also proposed funding for additional essential assets, including 60-meter vessels and high-speed response boats.
