Heavy monsoon rains have led to the suspension of clearing operations along the San Fernando-Talaingod Highway in Bukidnon. This decision by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was made on July 10, 2026, as safety concerns arose from ongoing landslides.
Safety Concerns Prompt Suspension of Operations
They had to stop clearing operations due to the hazards of falling trees and mud when the landslide occurred around 8 a.m. on Friday.

- Landslide buried two-thirds of the highway expansion.
- Estimated 80,000 cubic meters of mud and debris need removal.
The suspension comes after a significant landslide buried a four-lane highway expansion project in Sitio Balacayo, Barangay Kalagangan. This project aims to facilitate traffic flow between San Fernando, Bukidnon, and Talaingod, Davao del Norte.
Maraguinot indicated that clearing operations will resume once weather conditions improve. In the interim, motorists are encouraged to use the Bukidnon-Davao Road (Buda) as a detour.
