Manila will implement major road closures starting at 6 p.m. on July 25, ahead of the United People's Initiative (UPI) rally scheduled for July 26. Traffic management measures aim to ensure public safety and facilitate the movement of participants.
Key Areas Affected by Closures
Several critical locations will experience traffic restrictions, including:
- Mendiola peace arch
- Liwasang Bonifacio
- Ayala Bridge
- MacArthur Bridge
- Quezon Bridge
Specific closures include:
- C.M. Recto Avenue from Nicanor Reyes Street to Mendiola Street
- Legarda Street from Figueras Street to San Rafael Street
- Magallanes Drive from Jones Bridge to MacArthur Bridge
- Eastbound lane of Ayala Boulevard from San Marcelino Street to Romualdez Street
Additionally, the southbound lanes of MacArthur Bridge and Quezon Boulevard will also be closed to assist rally logistics.
Rerouting Measures for Motorists
To alleviate traffic congestion, authorities have established rerouting protocols. Key diversions include:
- Quezon Boulevard and C.M. Recto Avenue traffic redirected through Nicanor Reyes Street
- Sta. Mesa motorists on Legarda Street rerouted via Figueras, Earnshaw, and Sergio H. Loyola streets
- Crossing MacArthur or Quezon bridges redirected through Dasmariñas Street, Juan Luna Street, and others
Motorists are strongly advised to plan their journeys in advance, utilizing the designated alternate routes. This proactive approach will help minimize delays during the rally.
