Rep. Terry Ridon has cast doubt on a list circulating on social media that claims several lawmakers have retracted their support for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. Ridon pointed out that one name on the list, 'Bier Rodriguez,' does not correspond to any current congressman.
During a recent statement, Ridon questioned the credibility of the list, asking, "If the withdrawal is genuine, where is the congressman named Bier Rodriguez? There is none."
The list, reportedly shared by pro-Duterte supporters, includes 15 lawmakers from the House of Representatives, including some members of the committee on justice.
While many names are valid, the mention of Bier Rodriguez raises suspicions about the entire list's authenticity.
Currently, only three members in the 20th Congress bear the last name Rodriguez: Eulogio Rodriguez from Catanduanes, Maximo Rodriguez Jr. from Abamin party-list, and Rufus Rodriguez from Cagayan de Oro.
These developments come after the House committee on justice identified probable cause for the impeachment of Vice President Duterte in a hearing held on April 29.
Next Steps in Impeachment Process
The committee is expected to vote on the approval of its report outlining the articles of impeachment. If approved, the report will be forwarded to the House committee on rules for inclusion in the plenary agenda.
The plenary session may occur on May 11, where lawmakers will deliberate on the committee's findings.
If that withdrawal is true, I have one question: is there a congressman named Bier Rodriguez? None.
Rep. Terry Ridon
