The trial for malversation involving former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. and six co-defendants commenced on Tuesday at the Sandiganbayan. This case arises from accusations related to a ghost project in Pandi, Bulacan.
During the proceedings, the prosecution introduced Myra Torio and Jose Jayson Cruz as key witnesses before the court's Third Division.
The court is expected to announce its decision soon regarding bail petitions, including Revilla's.
Reody Anthony Balisi, one of Revilla's legal representatives, expressed confidence in their case. He stated, "There is no evidence that can link [former] senator Bong Revilla," emphasizing their belief in his innocence.
We will not preempt what the court's assessment will be but we are very confident in our position.
Reody Anthony Balisi
The trial will continue later today at 1:30 p.m. with additional prosecution witnesses, including contractor Sally Santos and Monica Louis Ocampo-Santos, a liaison officer from SYMS Construction.
