Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro has strongly denied allegations suggesting that she sought to influence lawmakers in favor of Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment.
In a Facebook post, Baricuatro stated, "My responsibility is to lead the development of Cebu, not to meddle in legislative processes."
Baricuatro's daughter, Dr. Elisse Nicole Catalan, also took to social media to defend her mother, asserting that no such calls had been made.
“Let me address you directly – I swear with my own life no such calls were made,” said Catalan.

She further criticized the insinuations, stating, "How dare some make insinuations that gov is ‘convincing’ Cebu congressmen and women to have the VP impeached?"
The rumors emerged over the weekend, coinciding with preparations in the House of Representatives for the upcoming plenary session on impeachment.
Lawmakers have received documents related to the impeachment process, as the House Committee on Rules has included the Justice panel report in the agenda for next week.
