Ortega Demands Accountability
Three days prior to a key House vote on her impeachment, Duterte suggested that some lawmakers were financially benefiting from her name and should share those funds with their constituents. Ortega dismissed her claims as a tactic to avoid accountability.
That is already a worn-out and old argument. Whenever she is asked to answer the evidence, the response is immediately accusations that someone is earning money or receiving suitcases of cash. She should just answer the Articles of Impeachment.

Ortega stressed that if Duterte believes the impeachment lacks merit, she should come forward with evidence and explanations instead of resorting to accusations. He referred to serious allegations involving substantial confidential funds and other financial irregularities.
Over 200 lawmakers have reportedly expressed their support for the impeachment Articles. Ortega emphasized that the case is not merely a matter of political intrigue, but one that demands serious scrutiny and accountability.
Impeachment Vote Looms
The House of Representatives is set to deliberate and vote on the Articles of Impeachment soon. A one-third majority is required to advance the case to the Senate, and sources suggest that over 200 signatures have already been collected.
If more than 200 lawmakers are ready to sign and if a large majority of the public wants a trial, then she can no longer say this is merely intrigue.
