The Philippine Palace has announced that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will not intervene in the escalating conflict between Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and Batangas Representative Leandro Leviste.

During a press briefing in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Palace spokesperson Claire Castro emphasized that the president had a meeting with Recto and did not discuss the ongoing feud.

Castro urged both officials to resolve their issues independently, stating, "If there is any personal conflict between them, that’s just between the two of them."

Background of the Feud

The dispute intensified after Leviste accused Recto and his family members of seeking campaign funds for the upcoming 2025 elections. Leviste alleged that they were involved in dubious fundraising activities.

Leviste claimed Recto offered him a business deal linked to the Department of Public Works and Highways, calling into question their integrity.

Leviste's Statement

In response, Recto denied the accusations and accused Leviste of attempting to bribe him to influence electoral outcomes. Recto described Leviste as "a bitter brat prone to tantrums."

Political Implications

The public exchange has drawn attention within the political sphere, with lawmakers criticizing Leviste for his reliance on hearsay in his allegations.

As tensions rise, the Palace's stance on non-intervention suggests a desire to maintain unity among officials, even amid growing political rivalries.
