The malversation trial against former senator Bong Revilla and six co-defendants commenced Tuesday at the Sandiganbayan. The case revolves around an alleged ghost project in Pandi, Bulacan.
The prosecution presented witnesses Myra Torio and Jose Jayson Cruz during the initial proceedings in the Third Division of the court.
A ruling on the bail petitions for Revilla and the other accused is anticipated soon. Most defendants filed for bail, with hearings starting on April 6, 2026.
We will not preempt what the court's assessment will be but we are very confident in our position,
Reody Anthony Balisi, Revilla's lawyer
Alongside Revilla, other accused filing for bail include Juanito Mendoza, Brice Hernandez, Arjay Domasig, Emelita Juat, and Christina Mae Pineda.
The trial for the related graft case also resumed on Tuesday, featuring Monica Louis Ocampo-Santos, a liaison officer from SYMS Construction, as a witness.
Earlier in February 2026, the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division recorded a not guilty plea for Revilla after he declined to enter a plea during his arraignment. Other defendants have also pleaded not guilty.
