Janet Napoles has been convicted by the Sandiganbayan for graft and malversation tied to fraudulent projects that misappropriated funds from the Department of Agrarian Reform.

Significant Sentences for Corruption

Napoles was sentenced to 12 to 15 years for each of the 10 graft charges and 17 to 20 years for each of the 10 malversation counts.

During the proceedings, Napoles appeared via partial video conference from the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City.

The court also convicted former DAR undersecretary Jerry Pacturan, sentencing him to 14 to 19 years for malversation, alongside fines.

This ruling is part of ongoing efforts in the Philippines to address corruption, particularly in government dealings involving public funds.
