The crackdown, which took place from May 7 to 9, was a joint effort between the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and the Iloilo Provincial Government’s Task Force Overloading. It targeted unauthorized extraction activities in various municipalities.
Authorities are preparing charges against the operators for breaching the Revised Revenue Code of Iloilo. Common violations include incomplete documentation, misdeclared entries, and the absence of hauling contracts.

This intensified enforcement comes amidst rising concerns regarding illegal quarrying in Iloilo’s 4th district. Allegations suggest involvement from politically connected individuals and even police personnel.

Buyco indicated that they are in the process of gathering evidence against five to six individuals linked to illegal quarrying in Dueñas, Calinog, and Lambunao. Some abandoned equipment has been traced back to these personalities.
