Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joel Villanueva expressed confidence and indifference towards the plunder charges recommended against them by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. During a press conference, they dismissed the accusations, emphasizing their commitment to transparency.
The committee, chaired by Panfilo Lacson, suggested filing plunder and other criminal charges against several senators, including Estrada, Villanueva, and Francis Escudero.

Estrada clarified that he bears no ill will towards Lacson despite the serious allegations. Villanueva echoed this sentiment, stating that he is prepared to defend himself against the claims.
Villanueva highlighted that, despite being implicated in ongoing flood control issues, he has not faced any formal charges. He is waiting for the opportunity to present his side.
The senator remarked, "Records will bail me out," asserting his belief in the truth of his position.
Villanueva also stressed that the Blue Ribbon Committee does not have the authority of a court, underscoring the need for proper judicial processes.
The Chairman's Report by Lacson, which has yet to be finalized, recommends additional charges of malversation, direct bribery, and graft against the senators.
Estrada noted he did not sign the report, stating it is premature as it is only a partial committee report. As of Monday, the report had garnered seven of the nine necessary signatures for consideration in the Senate.
Escudero has not yet provided a comment regarding the situation.
