The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has stepped in to support families in Benguet and Rizal, who were affected by landslides caused by tropical cyclone Maymay and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.
Recent Disasters and Immediate Response
The Department immediately extended assistance to the victims' families in Benguet to help ease their worries.

On August 6, a landslide struck an eatery in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad, resulting in two fatalities and one severe injury. DSWD provided P10,000 to the families of the deceased and P5,000 to the injured resident.
In Rizal, a rockslide on August 5 caused two more deaths in Barangay Wawa, prompting the local government to deliver cash aid and supplies to the affected families.
Ongoing Relief Operations
DSWD is maintaining its efforts to assist families impacted by both Maymay and Luis. The agency's regional disaster response teams are on high alert to address local government needs.
The DSWD has reported that over 26,000 families, totaling 88,738 individuals, have been affected across 290 barangays due to the recent weather disturbances.
The agency's humanitarian efforts have reached approximately P1.798 million, assisting various regions, including I, II, III, V, and IX.
