Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon announced his readiness to assist the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in its renewed inquiry into alleged financial mismanagement concerning the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Dizon stated during a site inspection on Monday that he has a 'clear conscience' regarding the matter and is prepared to respond to any subpoenas issued by the NBI.
Past Allegations and Current Investigations
We will cooperate because we have a clear conscience.

Previously, Dizon oversaw the construction of sports facilities in New Clark City when he led the Bases Conversion and Development Authority. He clarified that complaints against him and other officials had been dismissed back in December 2021.
Dizon emphasized the importance of transparency, stating, 'If there are investigations, we will cooperate because we believe the facilities were built to a high standard.'
The renewed investigation follows Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla's recent directive for a review of the 2019 SEA Games spending, which had initially been dismissed due to lack of evidence.
- Dizon's cooperation with the NBI is seen as a step toward transparency.
- The 2019 SEA Games faced scrutiny due to reported spending irregularities.
- The Ombudsman previously dismissed cases related to the SEA Games facilities.
The NBI's investigation will assess whether any new evidence has emerged regarding the construction and funding of the sports facilities.
