The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has allocated P43.18 billion to strengthen ongoing government assistance initiatives. This decision follows directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
During a recent briefing, Palace press officer Claire Castro announced that the funds will facilitate the continuous distribution of cash, food assistance, and pensions aimed at the country’s most vulnerable populations.
Of the total allocation, over P36.8 billion is earmarked for protective services for individuals and families in challenging situations. Additionally, the Supplementary Feeding program is set to receive more than P3.4 billion to provide meals for children enrolled in Child Development Centers and Supervised Neighborhood Places.
The Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens will benefit from P2 billion, while the Sustainable Livelihood Program is allocated P810 million.
The release of these funds adheres to National Budget Circular No. 599, which mandates the submission of a Special Budget Request and approval from the Office of the President for new budget items and increased funding.
