Beijing's Ambassador to Manila, Jing Quan, stated that China could 'easily win' in a military conflict with the Philippines but prefers peaceful negotiations to resolve maritime disputes. His comments were made during a forum in Quezon City amid rising tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
Jing emphasized the importance of reestablishing military-to-military communications, which have been inactive for approximately three years. He warned that the absence of these channels could increase the risk of confrontations.
