The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has commended the Atin Ito Coalition for its recent successful mission to the West Philippine Sea (WPS). On May 3, 2026, the coalition reached Pag-asa Island and planted the Philippine flag at Sandy Cay.
AFP spokesperson Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad emphasized the mission's significance, describing it as a demonstration of the Filipino people's unwavering spirit and a strong assertion of national sovereignty.
This is not merely a symbolic gesture. It is a powerful assertion of our sovereign rights and a demonstration of active citizenship in the face of external challenges.

The coalition's mission, which began on April 30, utilized the M/V Felix Oca as its primary vessel. The mission aimed to deliver essential supplies, including food and fuel, to local island communities.
In addition to the flag-planting, the coalition conducted medical outreach programs and organized a community concert, culminating activities on May 5.
Trinidad reiterated the AFP's commitment to protecting Philippine territory and supporting initiatives that promote the 2016 Arbitral Award.
The Atin Ito Coalition's efforts highlight the ongoing concerns over territorial integrity in a region with increasing geopolitical tensions.
