The Kadayawan Festival 2026 officially launched on August 7, with Vice President Sara Duterte striking a ceremonial gong, a tradition that signifies the start of Davao City’s month-long thanksgiving celebration.
A Celebration Rooted in Culture and Unity
The Kadayawan is more than a colorful celebration of culture, harvest and gratitude. It reflects the strength and resilience of the people of Davao especially in the face of economic and political struggles.

The event, held at Magsaysay Park, gathered local officials, tribal leaders, and community members, reinforcing the festival's theme of unity. This year's slogan, "We Are One, KadayaONE!", highlights collaboration among Davao's diverse communities.
Kadayawan, which began in 1988, has evolved into one of the country's most anticipated festivals, celebrating the agricultural richness and cultural diversity of the region. The festival's growing significance reflects Davao's development as a cultural tourism hub.
This year's festivities feature 26 events throughout August, with a ₱68-million budget dedicated to enhancing activities and cultural presentations. Organizers expect attendance to surpass 250,000 visitors.
The festival's major highlights include the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan street dance competition, the Pamulak sa Kadayawan floral float parade, and the Hiyas sa Kadayawan cultural pageant. These events showcase the vibrant traditions of Davao's Indigenous Peoples.
To ensure safety, approximately 19,000 security personnel will be deployed across various venues. Authorities are confident that the extensive security measures will contribute to a peaceful Kadayawan celebration for all.
