In a heartwarming initiative, two fathers from Cavite and Cardona, Rizal, received unexpected support from the GMA Kapuso Foundation, aimed at easing the burden of rising fuel prices.
Rico Teodoro, a fisherman for over 30 years, had to sell his fishing boat last December following his wife's sudden illness. Now, he joins other fishermen at sea but struggles with increasing fuel costs.
Ngayon ay nangangamuhan po ako sa pangingisda pero madalang po makapalaot at minsan nasasama po ako sa pag-c-construction.

In Cavite City, Eliseo Tolentino, a boat pusher, also feels the financial strain from the dwindling number of fishermen in the area. To make ends meet, he collects recyclables, often selling bottles for food.
Minsan nangangalakal na lang ako. Kahapon nagbenta ako ng bote. ‘Yun ang ginawa naming hapunan.

With Father’s Day approaching, Eliseo expressed a simple wish for groceries to share with his family. Recognizing their dedication, a sponsor collaborated with the GMA Kapuso Foundation to provide both men with grocery packages and sacks of rice.
Maiibsan na 'yung isang pagkukulang namin sa problema namin, kung saan kami kukuha ng pagkain. Maraming maraming salamat sa GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Rico encouraged fellow fathers to persevere and support their families despite challenges. “Sa kaparehas kong mga magulang, huwag silang magsasawang sumuporta sa pamilya,” he said.
Continued Support for Affected Communities
In addition to aiding local fishermen, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is mobilizing support for communities impacted by the recent 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Mindanao. They are preparing for the second wave of their Operation Bayanihan project in SOCCSKSARGEN.
