Cai Cortez has candidly discussed the challenges she faced during her failed marriage and her journey as a solo parent. In a recent appearance on "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," she highlighted the crucial support her family provided as she navigated these difficult times.

Navigating Life After Divorce

I'm a solo parent na with my two kids. Hindi ko kaya mag-isa. And thank God mayroon akong parents, who accepted us and talagang really took on the role as my co-parents sa pagpapalaki ng dalawa kong anak.

Cai Cortez, Actress
  • Cai married Wissem Rkhami in 2016 and has two children, Bibo and Carmen.
  • She emphasized the importance of family support during her transition to solo parenting.

Cai acknowledged that her parents, veteran actor Rez Cortez and his wife Candy, played a vital role in her life post-divorce. She noted that without their support, raising her children would have been incredibly challenging.

Reflecting on her marriage, Cai revealed that the man she married did not align with the person she thought she knew. "The day we got married — let's just say who he was, wasn't who I thought he was," she explained.

Despite the heartbreak, she views her experience as a learning opportunity. Cai stated, "I wouldn't have my kids kung hindi ko siya nakilala. Kailangan mo maging bobo, para maging matalino."

The conversation also touched on differing perspectives regarding divorce. Cai advocated for the right to leave abusive relationships. "Ang tao nagbabago," she asserted, emphasizing that individuals deserve respect in any relationship.

In contrast, Rez and Candy remain firm in their belief against divorce due to their Catholic faith. Rez stated, "Kami ni Candy, we are members of a Catholic renewal group at naniniwala kami na kapag nag-asawa ka, whatever God put together, let no one put asunder."

Despite their differing views on marriage, both parents respected Cai's decision to leave her marriage when she felt it was necessary. Rez recounted, "Kami na ang gumawa ng paraan para palayasin 'yung lalaki sa bahay."

Cai expressed deep gratitude for her parents' unwavering support, highlighting the strength of family ties during challenging times.
