The Batangas City government recently honored six centenarians with cash gifts and plaques as part of its commitment to recognize the elderly.
Each centenarian received P150,000 in cash incentives along with recognition plaques, all signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This initiative aligns with the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024.
The beneficiaries included Melchora De La Cruz and Felisa Macatangay, both 101 years old, and four others who recently turned 100: Demetria Cloza, Wenceslao Albotra, Cecilia Balido, and Luz Evangelista.
The one-time cash incentive is a tribute to individuals who have reached the age of 100 and above.

According to the law, centenarians receive a P100,000 cash gift from the national government, while the local government supplements this with an additional P50,000.
Furthermore, residents who turn 101 years old will get an extra P30,000 for each subsequent birthday.
The cash gifts were distributed by representatives from the National Commission of Senior Citizens and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).
Feedback from the recipients indicated that the financial assistance will significantly aid in covering their daily necessities, including medical expenses. Additionally, OSCA encouraged eligible senior citizens in Batangas City to submit their documents for evaluation to secure these benefits.
