The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) has been allocated P800 million as part of a larger P1.855 billion funding package from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). This funding is designated for its Zero Balance Billing program, which aims to eliminate out-of-pocket expenses for eligible patients.

Financial Relief for Patients

When family members fall sick, the first concern should be getting well, not where to find the money to pay the hospital.

  • P15 million earmarked for specialized treatment of patients with Dystonia-Parkinsonism

The Zero Balance Billing program is part of the government’s commitment to ensure that healthcare access is not limited by financial constraints. Acting Budget Secretary Kim Robert C. De Leon emphasized that healthcare should remain a priority, especially in times of fiscal challenges.

This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to prioritize essential public services even in a constrained fiscal environment. De Leon noted, "Our fiscal space may be limited, but when lives and essential health services are at stake, the government must find the resources and make them count."

PGH serves as a key referral center, providing a wide spectrum of medical services. The recent funding is expected to enhance the hospital's capacity to deliver specialized care, including support for patients afflicted by rare conditions.
