MakerWorld has unveiled the winners of its first user-initiated charity design contest, aimed at benefiting children in cancer wards. The contest attracted 1,008 creators who submitted a total of 2,056 unique models.

Transforming Creativity into Kindness

Every model submitted carried someone's time, care, and imagination. To everyone who contributed: thank you for helping us create more of those moments.

The Pieksekisten project, which translates to 'comfort boxes,' aims to provide small gifts for children post-treatment. The initiative began in February 2023, inspired by Pascal Neumann's personal experience with his son Thore's battle against cancer.

Involving a global community of designers, the contest generated over 250,000 unique visitors and expanded the project's reach significantly. The first batch of 3D-printed gifts is now being distributed to pediatric oncology wards.

The contest's framework allowed for a rapid increase in contributions, showcasing how digital platforms can mobilize creativity for social good.

Pascal Neumann emphasized the importance of treating each design with respect, noting that the models are not merely files but represent the efforts and creativity of their creators.

Participants also contributed points to support the project, resulting in over 102,000 points raised, translating to significant resources for production.

This initiative highlights a new approach to charity, where digital creativity leads to tangible benefits for those in need, setting a precedent for future charitable endeavors.

The Points Donation feature remains open until June 1, 2026, allowing users to continue supporting the cause and contributing to the ongoing effort to provide comfort to children facing difficult treatments.
