Ilonggo families are receiving much-needed support through the Haplos program, a localized Medical Assistance Program (MAP) initiated by the Iloilo City Government. This initiative is designed to help those struggling with the financial burdens of medical care.

Financial Aid for Medical Needs

Haplos, which translates to 'Health Assistance sa Pumuluyo, Laboratory kag Ospital Serbis', provides up to P50,000 in financial aid to indigent residents through the Atipan Center, located on the 7th Floor of Iloilo City Hall.

One hundred percent nalipay gid kay ang programa ma-avail kag maka-benepisyo sa pumuluyo sang syudad, ilabi na gid sa mga imol.

Violeta Gentil, Beneficiary

Violeta Gentil, a mother of eight, expressed her gratitude, highlighting the challenges of supporting a family with medical needs. Her family relies on this program, especially as they face ongoing health issues.

  • Assistance covers hospitalization, laboratory services, and medicines.
  • The program serves as a lifeline for many financially challenged families.

On June 1, 2026, the city formalized partnerships with ten hospitals to enhance the program's reach, aiming for efficient medical assistance delivery.

Dureza Borrero, another beneficiary, shared how the assistance has alleviated her family’s financial strain as they navigate her mother's treatment.

How to Access the Program

Residents in need can visit the Atipan Center to apply for assistance. Applicants must meet specific criteria, including being indigent and having a life-threatening condition.

Mayor Raisa Treñas emphasized the city's commitment to accessible healthcare, stating that the program aims to support vulnerable families facing medical emergencies.

Masakit makita nga may mga pamilya nga naga-antos tungod wala sila sang nagakaigo nga pondo para sa pagpabulong sang ila mga himata.

Qualified residents can receive assistance quarterly, with a maximum of P50,000 available each time. The program aims to cover costs not included by PhilHealth.

The establishment of the Haplos program reflects Iloilo City's ongoing effort to create a compassionate healthcare system, ensuring that support is readily available for those in need.
