Ninety officers from the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) were hospitalized in Iloilo City on June 17, after experiencing symptoms indicative of food poisoning.

The cadets fell ill shortly after consuming pork adobo at Camp General Adriano Hernandez in Dingle.

They reported stomach pains and vomiting about 30 minutes post-meal, prompting immediate medical attention.

Health Response and Investigation

Most of them have been discharged already from the hospital.

The affected individuals were treated at various facilities, including Iloilo Provincial Hospital and Don Jose Monfort Medical Center.

As part of the ongoing investigation, health officials plan to conduct a field inquiry to identify the source of the foodborne illness.

  • Health personnel will collect food and water samples for laboratory testing.
  • The investigation will involve coordination with local health facilities.

Colmenares-Quiñon emphasized the importance of laboratory results to establish whether the illness stemmed from food poisoning or another pathogen.

In light of the incident, the Iloilo Provincial Health Office is reminding the community to adhere to food safety protocols.

Recommended practices include ensuring ingredient freshness, proper food storage, and thorough handwashing.
