Filipino VALORANT teams Paper Rex (PRX) and Global Esports (GE) have been eliminated from the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 after disappointing performances in the group stage.

PRX faced a tough challenge from EMEA's Karmine Corp (KC) on July 4, where they initially took the lead with a 13-11 victory on the first map but ultimately lost the series.

KC rallied back, securing wins of 13-9 and 13-7 on Fracture and Lotus, respectively, completing a reverse sweep.

GE's Struggles Against AG.AL

In their final group match on July 5, GE met China's AG.AL. Despite competitive play, GE was swept, with close scores of 14-12 and 13-12 in Sunset and Split, sealing their exit.

This outcome leaves Filipino esports fans disappointed, as both teams were seen as strong contenders.

Looking Ahead: VCT Pacific Stage 2

With the EWC 2026 behind them, PRX and GE are now turning their focus to the upcoming VCT Pacific Stage 2, starting July 16. PRX also prepares for the VALORANT Champions 2026 in Shanghai, having already secured a spot.

The performance of Filipino teams in international tournaments often reflects the challenges they face against more established regions, including EMEA and NA.

  • PRX lost to Karmine Corp 1-2
  • GE was swept by AG.AL 0-2

The early exit from EWC 2026 highlights the gap that still exists for Filipino teams on the world stage, despite their growing talent and dedication.
