Woody Allen, the acclaimed yet controversial director, is currently filming his latest movie in Madrid, aiming to enhance the city's reputation as a major player in the global film industry.
The 90-year-old filmmaker began production earlier this month, attracting the attention of many curious spectators as filming closed off sections of downtown.
Allen, known for classics like "Annie Hall" and "Midnight in Paris," expressed his admiration for Madrid, calling it "elegant and beautiful" during a recent press conference.
"I'd always thought of Madrid as a very elegant and beautiful city and perfect for the kind of diplomatic atmosphere that I wanted for the story," said Woody Allen.
As Allen shifts his focus to Europe for film settings, he noted the appeal of European cities for their "open boulevards" and historical architecture, contrasting with his earlier work in New York.
This project, which will include 'Madrid' in its title, is projected to create approximately 1,200 direct jobs and nearly 2,300 indirect jobs, bolstering the local economy.
Madrid's government has invested in the production, reflecting the city's growing ambition to attract more cinematic endeavors and cultural events.
