In a historic announcement, both ‘The Lost Boys’ and ‘Schmigadoon!’ received 12 nominations for the upcoming Tony Awards, making them the frontrunners this year.
June Squibb, at 96, has now become the oldest actor to earn a Tony nomination, while Danny Burstein has set a new record for male actors with his ninth nomination.
Following closely behind are the revival of ‘Ragtime’ with 11 nominations and ‘Death of a Salesman,’ featuring Nathan Lane, with nine.
Key Nominations and Highlights
A total of 24 shows received at least one nomination across the 26 categories. Notable mentions include ‘Chess,’ a revival that explores Cold War themes, and ‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball,’ which reinterprets the classic musical for a modern audience.

Historic Achievements
Squibb’s nomination stems from her role in ‘Marjorie Prime,’ where she plays a widow confronting the implications of artificial intelligence. This is her first nomination after a storied career.
Burstein’s record-breaking nomination comes from his work in ‘Marjorie Prime,’ surpassing the previous record held by Jason Robards.
Nominations were also extended to acclaimed plays like ‘Giant,’ which tackles antisemitism issues, and ‘Liberation,’ a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama.

The Tony Awards ceremony will take place on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Pink, and will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
