Shakira has announced her collaboration with Nigerian superstar Burna Boy for the official song of the FIFA World Cup 2026, titled 'Dai Dai.' The Colombian singer shared a brief teaser on her social media on Thursday.
The video features Shakira performing at the iconic Maracaná Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, accompanied by dancers. Her lyrics include, 'Here in this place / You belong,' complemented by a harmonious male voice.
Fans can expect the full release of 'Dai Dai' on May 14, just weeks before the World Cup kicks off on June 11.
The World Cup Schedule
The tournament will begin with a match between Mexico and South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The final is set for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
This isn't Shakira's first World Cup anthem; her iconic song 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)' was the official track for the 2010 tournament.
Coca-Cola's Competing Anthem
It’s important to note that 'Dai Dai' is distinct from Coca-Cola’s official anthem for the World Cup 2026, which features a reimagining of Van Halen’s 'Jump.' This version includes contributions from J Balvin, Travis Barker, and others.
'Jump' is not a fútbol song,' Balvin noted, emphasizing the need for a more Latin-inspired take on the theme of soccer.
