'Runo!' follows the adventures of a loving aspin, Runo, who embarks on a quest to refill her empty food bowl amid a zombie apocalypse in Metro Manila.
The Story Behind Runo!
The 14-minute film portrays Runo's determination to reunite with her owner, Aimee, while navigating a city filled with danger. Their bond formed when Aimee rescued Runo from the streets years ago.
Despite its heartwarming premise, 'Runo!' features scenes of violence and emotional turmoil, reflecting the challenges faced by the characters.
A Significant Film Festival
'Runo!' was featured in the 'Duty Free' program at the festival, which showcases five short films from diverse backgrounds. The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival has been a platform for over 6,000 works by Asian and Pacific Islander artists since its inception in 1983.
This festival is also an Academy Award®-qualifying event, allowing winners to compete for prestigious awards in the film industry.
Prior to its Los Angeles screening, 'Runo!' was selected for the 2025 QCinema International Film Festival and showcased at various venues across the Philippines.
Creators Behind Runo!
Directed and written by animation students Jazmine Gin R. Pateña and Lysa Catolico, 'Runo!' is a product of the indiegenius project lab at iAcademy. Nour Hooshmand voices the character Aimee.
