Nyoy Volante recently opened up about his hit song 'Someday,' which was famously performed by his former partner, OPM singer Nina. During an appearance on 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,' he recounted the circumstances that led to the song's creation.
A Song Born Out of Necessity
Volante explained that at the time, he was in a relationship with Nina. She was nearing a deadline for her album and needed additional tracks. Although he initially intended the song for his own album, he decided to offer it to her instead.
‘I was actually writing this for myself… But she needed like two more songs. So I wrote one song for her. This one was supposed to be mine,’ Nyoy Volante.
He added, 'Instead of creating another song, I just included 'Someday.' Eventually, she made it very famous.' Nyoy expressed gratitude that the song not only succeeded locally but also gained international recognition.
- International companies have requested permission to create their own versions of 'Someday.'

Reflecting on changes in the music industry, Volante noted, 'Before, it wasn't common for artists to seek permissions for versions. Now, everyone is being very formal about it.'
Moving On
Nyoy and Nina's relationship ended in 2007, but both have since moved on to new chapters in their lives. During the interview, Volante shared that he feels no need to reconnect with Nina, stating, 'Everyone's moved on. I’m very happy with my family and my life right now.'
Nyoy is set to perform at the second installment of 360 LIVE at Bar 360 in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City, on September 19. He is also currently seen in the Kapuso series 'Born to Shine,' airing weekdays at 2:30 p.m. on GMA Network.
