Matet de Leon has publicly acknowledged a misunderstanding with her brother Ian de Leon concerning their late mother Nora Aunor's estate. This admission came during her appearance on the talk show 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda'.
When asked about the tension between her and Ian, Matet clarified, 'I can’t say it’s a fight, but it’s a misunderstanding.' This statement reflects the complexities within the family as they deal with Aunor's legacy.
The issue escalated after Ian claimed in an earlier interview that he is the 'sole legal heir' to their mother’s estate. Matet did not contest this assertion, stating, 'It’s true. There’s no doubt about it.'
Despite her acceptance of Ian's claim, Matet revealed that she and her siblings were unaware of Ian's establishment of a corporation to manage the Nora Aunor Foundation. 'We just found out about the enterprise and the foundation on social media,' she explained.
Family Dynamics and Foundation Conflicts
The revelation of the corporation has created friction, particularly since Lotlot, Matet's sister, had initiated a separate foundation shortly after their mother's passing. Matet expressed that the five siblings should have collaborated on such initiatives.
We rushed to set up a foundation... Because it should be the five of us.

Matet also indicated that her last interaction with Ian was last year and that their communication was not positive. 'I have no idea how things can be fixed,' she admitted.
Regarding the estate, Matet confirmed that Aunor left behind numerous properties but was uncertain about the existence of a will. 'The properties, there are really a lot of them. But the last will, I don’t know if there is one,' she stated.
Ian has previously reinforced his position as Aunor's sole legal heir while clarifying that this does not diminish the role of his adoptive siblings.
