In its journey to the Oscars, Filipiñana competes with seven other shortlisted films, including notable works like Jade Castro’s All the Things I Leave You and Jerrold Tarog’s Quezon. FAP director general Paolo Villaluna emphasized the potential of all entries to portray the Filipino experience globally.
The Oscars will release the shortlist of 15 films on December 15, with the final nominees announced on January 21, 2027. The ceremony is scheduled for March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Villaluna expressed optimism, stating, "I hope all eyes are in the Philippines now, all Hollywood eyes. I think we have a good chance with the three titles here." The Philippines' cinematic landscape has evolved significantly, with a growing international presence.
