Bonnie Tyler, the iconic Welsh singer famous for her hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart," is currently in an induced coma in Portugal.
The 74-year-old artist underwent emergency surgery at a hospital in Faro earlier this week.
According to a representative, doctors have placed her in an induced coma to aid her recovery.
"We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time, please," said the spokesperson.
Tyler gained fame in the 1970s with several hits, including "Lost in France" and "It’s a Heartache."
Her song "Total Eclipse of the Heart" became a chart-topping success in both the UK and the US.
The Grammy-nominated singer, born Gaynor Hopkins, was scheduled to launch a European tour on May 22 in Malta.
This tour was meant to celebrate 50 years since the release of her breakthrough single, "Lost in France."
Other concert dates were planned across Germany, the Czech Republic, and Turkey, culminating in a final show in Cardiff this December.
In 2013, Tyler represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in 19th place with her entry "Believe in Me."
She received an honor from the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 for her remarkable five-decade-long career in music.
