The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced the suspension of the Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) collection for May and June, aiming to reduce electricity bills for consumers.
This decision eliminates the GEA-All charge of 37 centavos per kilowatt hour (kWh) for all electricity users.
The GEA-All fee supports renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hydro initiatives across the Philippines.
ERC Chair and CEO Francis Saturnino Juan explained that while the agency is committed to promoting cleaner energy, it recognizes the immediate financial challenges Filipino households face due to increasing prices.
This temporary suspension of the GEA-All collection is intended to provide additional relief to consumers while ensuring that renewable energy developers continue to receive the support provided under existing policies.
