The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) has announced the availability of 25 free online courses, aimed at enhancing educational access for learners globally. These courses will be available from July to December 2026 through the university's Massive Open Distance eLearning (MODeL) platform.
Expanding Educational Opportunities
This new offering follows a successful launch of 32 MOOCs earlier this year. Among the new or returning courses are topics such as:
- Internalizing Behaviors among Children and Practical Home Support

- Batayang Kasanayan sa Akademikong Pagsulat sa Filipino; Panimulang Kasanayan sa Gramatikang Filipino
- Research Ethics: Fundamental Concepts and Review Process
Participants can complete these self-paced courses and earn a 16-hour electronic certificate upon meeting requirements. UPOU emphasizes that these courses are open to everyone, promoting inclusivity in education.
How to Enroll
Enrollment is straightforward. Interested participants should follow these steps:
- Visit the MODeL website and create an account by clicking 'LOG IN'.
- Complete the registration form and ensure your email is correct.
- Look for a confirmation email, which may take up to three business days due to high traffic.
- Confirm your account and log in to select your desired course.
UPOU recommends using a Gmail account for reliable email delivery. Available courses will be prominently displayed on the MODeL homepage.
This initiative is part of UPOU's ongoing efforts to enhance learning opportunities in the Philippines and beyond, reflecting a broader trend in education towards online and flexible learning models.
