Two separate motorcycle accidents in Barili and Balamban, Cebu, resulted in two fatalities and several injuries over the weekend.
In Barili, a 22-year-old motorcycle rider died early Sunday morning after crashing into a steel fence. The victim was identified as Mark Vincent Olores Cajocson.
The accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. while Cajocson was traveling from Barangay Nasipit to Tangil after attending a disco event. He was reportedly driving without a valid license and had two passengers.
Rescue teams rushed the victims to Barili District Hospital, where medical personnel declared Cajocson dead on arrival. His passengers sustained injuries and were transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Balamban Incidents
In Balamban, another motorcycle rider, 24-year-old Cholo Jake Garalza, died after colliding with an SUV on the Transcentral Highway. This incident happened around 10:44 a.m. on Saturday.
Garalza lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve, swerving into oncoming traffic. He was taken to Cebu Provincial Hospital-Balamban but was also pronounced dead upon arrival.
The SUV driver, 31-year-old Ace Anthony Cantiviros Climaco, has been taken into custody as part of the investigation.
Bus Crash in Balamban
Earlier on the same day, a bus crash in Barangay Pondol involved a bus and a utility vehicle. The bus driver reportedly lost control, leading to a multi-vehicle collision.
The bus collided with an oncoming vehicle, sideswiped a store, and hit a steel post before crashing into a gasoline station firewall. A woman nearby sustained injuries.
The bus driver and three passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into all three incidents.
