A motorcycle collision with a van in San Fernando, Cebu, resulted in the deaths of two teenagers early Thursday morning.
The victims, a 16-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger, were identified as residents of Barangay South Poblacion.
The accident occurred around 3:35 a.m. along the national road in Barangay Pitalo.
Circumstances of the Collision
According to the San Fernando Municipal Police, the van was traveling northbound while the motorcycle was heading in the opposite direction.
The motorcyclist reportedly attempted to overtake a vehicle, leading to a collision with the van.
The impact was severe, resulting in fatal injuries for both the motorcycle driver and his passenger.
Lack of Safety Gear
Authorities confirmed that neither the driver nor the back rider was wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Furthermore, the 16-year-old was operating the motorcycle without a license, and the vehicle lacked a registration plate.
Emergency responders transported the individuals involved to the nearest hospital, while the vehicles sustained significant damage.
