A fuel tanker accident in Valladolid, Negros Occidental, has led to the tragic deaths of a 36-year-old vendor and his 17-year-old companion. The collision occurred on July 5, 2026, at a local boulevard.
Details of the Incident
The food cart, owned by Ramilie, was nearly crushed by the fuel tanker. Ramilie died at the scene, while his companion, Hannah, succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
According to the Valladolid Police, the tanker driver, Dionesio, lost control of the vehicle. He stated that he dozed off and was unable to prevent the crash.
“Hindi ko alam. Bigla na lang pumikit ang aking mata kaya, iyon, bumangga. Humihingi ako ng tawad,” said Dionesio, expressing remorse for the incident.
Facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, Dionesio's actions have sparked outrage and concern among local residents.
Community Reaction
Hannah's mother, Gigi, shared her grief, emphasizing that no compensation could make up for the loss of her daughter.
“Tulungan niyo ako na makayanan ko ito. Hindi mabayaran ng kahit anong ibigay nila ang buhay ng aking anak,” she lamented.
In response to the tragedy, local authorities have suspended all vending activities along the boulevard where the incident took place.
“I-suspend muna ang lahat ng economic activities diyan sa may boulevard. I-evaluate at i-review natin ang lahat ng plans,” Mayor Ricardo Presbitero, Jr. stated.
