A security guard has been arrested after allegedly shooting a grocery store employee inside a mall in Iloilo City on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4:37 p.m. in the fishing section of a grocery store located in the Mandurriao district.
Authorities identified the suspect as Joseph, 37, who is employed by New Mabuhay International Security Agency.
The victim, Jhomay Mark, was reportedly shot in the chest with the guard's service firearm.
He was immediately transported to the Western Visayas Medical Center for medical attention. His current condition remains undisclosed.
Following the shooting, the suspect surrendered to police and handed over the firearm used in the incident.
He is now detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 5, awaiting legal proceedings.
Local police and the Scene of the Crime Operatives are actively investigating the motive behind the shooting.
