The Municipality of Sagada has publicly thanked American volunteer Brett Mitchell and his five-year-old golden retriever, Zuma, for their participation in the search for a missing 17-year-old girl. Sofia Isabela Oria has been unaccounted for since August 9.

Mitchell and his K9 partner arrived in Sagada on August 14 after a four-hour journey through adverse weather conditions. They joined local government officials and civilian volunteers in what has been described as one of the most extensive search operations in the area in recent memory.

Earlier, the pair had aided in a separate rescue operation in Baguio City following a landslide, showcasing their commitment to community service.
The search for Sofia continues, with multiple teams scouring various terrains in Barangays Demang, Dagdag, and Ambasing. Responders remain focused on safety and coordination for an effective search effort.
