Lawyer Terence Fernandez, representing the Chengs, emphasized that all pertinent evidence was provided to the defense on April 17. This included judicial affidavits from police and crucial surveillance footage.

The trial commenced on April 23 but was postponed when the defense claimed they had not received necessary documentation. Fernandez disputed this assertion, noting that all materials were personally delivered and acknowledged by the defense’s office staff.
The documents were signed for by an employee, confirming their receipt on the specified date, April 17, 2026.
