Under the new directive, police units are tasked with establishing regular communication with educational authorities to formulate comprehensive security plans for activities that occur outside school premises.
Nartatez highlighted the importance of these proactive measures, particularly following the tragic shooting incident in Tacloban City that resulted in the deaths of three students, which intensified calls for stronger campus safety initiatives.
The directive also comes on the heels of a recent drowning incident involving student-athletes from Ateneo de Manila University during an off-campus activity. This tragedy further emphasizes the critical need for thorough safety planning.
Going forward, the PNP will work closely with DepEd, CHED, and local governments to ensure that adequate security and emergency protocols are in place to protect students during all educational activities.
