The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported a remarkable 20.6% decrease in focus crimes across the country following the implementation of the Safer Cities Initiative. This initiative, which began on April 6, aims to bolster public safety through enhanced collaboration between the police and local government units.
From April 6 to July 4, 2026, the PNP recorded 7,883 incidents of focus crimes, a drop from 9,506 during the previous quarter. The decline includes serious offenses such as homicide, robbery, and sexual violence.

Impact of the Safer Cities Initiative
Launched under Secretary Jonvic Remulla, the Safer Cities Initiative focuses on strengthening peace and order by improving police visibility and enforcing local ordinances. The PNP noted a 21.74% increase in ordinance enforcement, with over 2.82 million apprehensions made during the same timeframe.

In conjunction with crime reduction, the PNP has continued its operations against illegal activities. A recent series of anti-drug operations resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of over 2.7 kilograms of shabu valued at more than P19 million.
