The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported a notable 12% reduction in major crimes across the country, attributed to the intensified Safer Cities Initiative initiated on April 6.
Data from the monitoring period of April 6 to May 6 indicates a decline in focus crime incidents, falling from 3,047 to 2,684 cases.
This translates to 363 fewer incidents, showcasing the effectiveness of the initiative in combating crime.
Among the most significant reductions, rape cases decreased by 25.4%, while physical injuries dropped by 24.3%. Homicides also fell by 14.1%, and theft incidents saw a 5% decline.
Murder and robbery cases registered a decrease of 7.4%, further underscoring the initiative's impact.
The PNP also reported improvements in crime clearance and solution efficiency rates, with Crime Clearance Efficiency (CCE) at 87.15% and Crime Solution Efficiency (CSE) rising to 68.19%.
