The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued a subpoena for CJ Hirro, an anchor from the Peanut Gallery Media Network (PGMN), linked to an alleged extortion case against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag confirmed the subpoena, which follows the arrest of PGMN founder Franco Mabanta and four associates. They are accused of attempting to extort approximately P350 million from Romualdez.
The extortion allegedly involved threats to release a video purportedly linking Romualdez to corruption within the House of Representatives.
Hirro is scheduled to appear at the NBI headquarters in Pasay City on May 11, 2026. Matibag labeled her a 'person of interest' due to her mention in the complaint.
NBI Investigates Further
According to the NBI, Hirro is included in the complaint affidavit, and the video clip central to the case features her. The agency is also exploring the involvement of other PGMN members.
